Imma be real with you, I don’t understand all the D&D heavy aspects, so I’m applying the most basic things here that translate well to roleplay. Things will be simplified for my own sake for both of these sections.

Canon Abilities:
As a goblin, Nott has these inherent species traits:
-See in the dark (darkvision)
-Deal additional damage to her size/nimbleness (fury of the small)
-Escape or hide more easily due to her size (nimble escape)
Role: Familiar
Role Qualities/Attributes: Nott will grow longer claws, and manifest a bandit like mask when she’s trying to be sneaky/obviously lie. Her initial familiar form will be a ferret. With time she might be able to turn into her halfing self. I want to build up to that.
Role Reasoning: Even with the surface level impression of Nott tends to read a bit chaotic and ill-behaved, she is inherently a good person. Be it one who operates by her own sense of justice about 98% of the time. She is prone to theft, violence and bloodshed as much as Nott is prone to take great risks to protect people from harm. She is someone who cares deeply, and works by action more than word. I feel like Familiar would be a good middle ground for Nott. Acknowledging that she's a good person who is actively struggling with such a big change in who and what she is.
❥ Personality

If there is one thing that can be said about Nott, it is the fact she is a Gordian knot (ha) of a person. Someone with tangles and contradictions that only become more complicated when you dig deeper. The surface level assumptions one has about her and her potential don’t quite match the reality of things.
The largest reason as to why is Nott’s conflict of self. A very large core component of her personality that has always existed, but only worsened thanks to being turned into a goblin. Nott originally was Veth, a halfing woman, who at best was the village ‘weird girl’. An oddity who never quite fit and was made well aware of it. Veth found her peace with a boy she loved, and raising their son together. Only to have that ripped away from her when she least expected it. Thus, Nott came to be. As Nott the goblin, she turned all that loathing, fear and anger inwards. It was much easier to hate herself and wallow than ever hope for a future. She is uncomfortable in her own skin, and lashes out to make herself feel more in control. Nott has been hurt badly enough throughout her life that she regards others with an intense level of suspicion.
When someone does manage to get past the more destructive front, there is a far gentler, thoughtful side of Nott to see. The goblin loves her people deeply, and goes to great lengths for them. Once Nott cares for you, it is incredibly hard to get rid of her. No matter the lengths, the task or goal, Nott finds herself wanting to protect her friends. Even if her friends ask her to do a ridiculous task, amongst some complaints, she’ll still do it. Nott wants to keep the Nein together and will essentially do anything to keep them. She routinely tries to do right by her friends, even if her gestures don’t always work out or come off strangely to other people.
She is far more observant and clever than she lets on as well. Growing up as a weird girl in a small village that loathes you means you pick up on expectations quickly. It is far easier to play dumb when you’re aware of the cues present. Nott can pick up on social cues and niceties, even if she chooses to ignore them most of the time. Being a goblin means she’s on the fringes of society, so it is much easier to do her own thing than try to adhere. Nott has lived a bit more of a traditional life than the rest of the Nein, so she understands how to navigate certain situations in a way the others don’t. Nott is also a tinkerer at heart, she likes taking apart things and putting them together in different ways. She’s willing to take that chance if she can experiment to some degree. Nott’s also able to pick out little oddities others tend to overlook in the grand scheme of things. Trinkets to people, she sees the strange ones first.
Nott's full potential would be, realizing she hasn't completely lost who she is, even with the body she inhabits and things she has done whilst a goblin. There is still room to grow and change as a person. A way to reach the level of happiness she had as Veth before her separation from her family. Whilst her goal will always be to change back to a halfling, I'm personally more interested in Nott learning that she can be happy like this too. I want Nott to be able to find peace in what she is and who she is becoming as a person. Even if she outwardly doesn't look the way she once did. With time, she'll be able to be Veth again, even if she isn't the same Halfling she once was.
